LARAMIE, Wyo. — The University of Wyoming Cowgirls showed that they belonged in the postseason during a strong 2024–25 campaign, and on Sunday received a bid to play in the inaugural Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament.
The Cowgirls — who boast a 22–11 overall record and finished as conference runners-up — received a No. 4 seed and will face Texas Tech in the first round. As the higher seed, Wyoming will host the game.
UW enters the postseason with plenty of momentum, as the Cowgirls are winners of 12 of their last 15 games. Most recently, they fell in triple-overtime to San Diego State in the Mountain West Championship game.
The team is led by recently crowned Mountain West Player of the Year Allyson Fertig and Defensive Player of the Year Emily Mellema, but it boasts plenty of other contributors as well.
The date and time of the opening-round contest have yet to be announced.
