The Natrona County School District has released the dates of the 2017 commencement ceremonies for NCSD high school students. It also has released a statement about the scheduling of the events, as they relate to the Memorial Day Holiday.

Things will kick of Thursday night, May 5th, with the commencement ceremony for Natrona County High School at the Casper Events Center. Roosevelt and Kelly Walsh will also host commencement ceremonies at the Events Center, on Friday May 26th. Midwest High School will conduct its commencement on Sunday, May 8th, at Wheeler Hall on the Casper College Campus.

In a statement released to media on Thursday, NCSD #1 says that they wanted to try to work around the holiday weekend, saying: “NCSD sought out opportunities to move the graduation ceremonies away from Memorial Day, to honor the sacrifices made by servicemen and women for our country. Moving the ceremonies away from Memorial Day was a community and district priority. NCSD worked collaboratively with Spectra, the management company of the Casper Events Center, to select alternate dates for the ceremonies. NCSD is thankful for the partnership with Spectra, the feedback regarding graduation dates received from the public, and the flexibility of our high schools, students and parents in selecting these dates.”

Spectra is a third party contractor that oversees operations at the Casper Events Center.
