
Anicio Kane Bernard: 2004 – 2025
Anicio K. Bernard passed away tragically on Sunday, May 11, 2025 in Casper, Wyoming. He was born August 22, 2004, in Denver, Colorado, to Adrian Bernard and Sabrina Hayman. Anicio grew up in Casper, Wyoming, spending a lot of time with his great-grandmother Jennifer McKay. Anicio enjoyed making music, being outdoors, fishing, camping, hanging out with his friends and family and watching the Denver Broncos games with his dad. In May of 2023, Anicio welcomed his first child into the world. Anicio will be remembered by his smile, his funny personality and his huge heart.
He is survived by his mother, Sabrina Hayman; father, Adrian (Meghan) Bernard; daughter, Liliana; siblings: Marquis Hayman, Kruz Bernard, and Sophia Bernard; maternal grandmother, Reneil Cisneros; grandfather, Jason Hayman; great-grandmother, Jennifer Mckay; and paternal grandmother, Debbie Bernard; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Frank McKay; paternal grandfather, Mike Valanzuela; great-grandfather, Jimmy Valanzuela; and great-grandfather, Rudy Bernard.
Gone too soon but forever loved.

Susan Rebecca Chapman: 1952 – 2025
Susan Chapman was a strong, loving, and compassionate woman who treated everyone around her like family. She was born in Orland, California, and retired from the City of San Francisco after a long and dedicated career.
Known affectionately as “Grandma” to many, Susan had a warm heart and an open home. She was a devoted member of the LDS Church and found joy in simple things—especially collecting mice figurines and painting by numbers, which brought her peace and reflection.
To those who knew her, Susan was a leader—strong-willed but gentle, always willing to lend a hand or offer words of encouragement. Her generosity left a lasting mark, and her kindness was the kind that others would quietly thank her for long after.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Angelina Alvarado Parkhurst Eagle and her husband, Manuel Alvarado. She also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren: Brandon Parkhurst, Zackery Parkhurst, Christina Parkhurst, and Ashlaya Eagle; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Melodie Parkhurst, Tommy Parkhurst, and Ivan Parkhurst Eagle.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23 at 12 p.m. at Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming. All are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
She will be remembered not only for her strength and independence but for the love she gave freely, the lives she touched, and the legacy she left behind.

James Warren “Tim” Monroe: 1935 – 2025
James Warren “Tim” Monroe, 89, passed away Sunday, May 18 in Casper, Wyoming.
Tim was a loving father and husband, a longtime civic leader, and a former mayor of Casper.
As the District Manager of the Casper office of the Bureau of Land Management, he helped to build the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center. He devoted much of his free time to improving and supporting the Casper community, serving on many local and statewide boards and commissions.
He was a gifted writer and speaker who could inspire, inform, and entertain all at the same time.
Tim was born in Winnemucca, Nevada in 1935. While studying journalism at the University of Utah, he met his future wife, Joanne Lambert. He spent his early career in radio and television, becoming a TV news anchor in Salt Lake City.
Tim and Joanne were married in 1958. In 1965, Tim’s career took the couple to the Washington DC area, where they raised four children, before moving to Casper in 1983.
Tim’s upbeat spirit, sense of humor, and devotion to friends and family live on in the lives of everyone who knew him.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Warren “Snowy” Monroe and Mary Johnstone Monroe; and his brother, Larry Monroe. He’s survived by his wife, Joanne; his sons: James, Michael, and Eric; his daughter, Mary; and five grandchildren.
The family plans a memorial service on what would have been Tim’s 90th birthday, July 13, 2025 at Highland Park Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center Foundation.

Glenda Earlene Van Patten: 1944 – 2025
Glenda Earlene (Kelly) Van Patten was born February 10, 1944 in Riverton, Wyoming to Earl and Louise Kelly. She was the youngest of seven children. Glenda met Jesus and reunited with the love of her life, Andy Van Patten, her husband of 40 years on May 18, 2025. She attended school in Morton and Lander, Wyoming and some college in Casper.
Glenda married Andy, October 14, 1962. They have two children, Scott and Tammy. Glenda was a cowboy’s wife and a mother, her two most important jobs. She also drove school bus, flagged construction, worked at Hells ½ Acre, The Tumble Inn and a contractor for the Waltman rest area. Glenda was Postmaster in Powder River for 20 years until her retirement on October 31st, 2006. Glenda and Andy Van Patten and Jerry and Anita Wilson started the first Sheepherders fair in Arminto, Wyoming. It then moved to Powder River where it ran consecutively for the next 27 years.
Glenda loved to dance, go to concerts, and attend family gatherings. She also enjoyed playing board games as well as card games, but cribbage was her favorite, and she liked to do a little gambling. She also enjoyed rodeos, horseracing, and hunting.
Glenda never complained about anything. She was tough, funny, stubborn, and beautiful.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andy Van Patten; her sisters: Virginia Trimmer, Doris George, Rose Barger, and Thelma Holmes; and two nieces and a nephew.
Glenda is survived by her son, Scott (Thaelyn) Van Patten and daughter, Tammy (Donny) Sell; brother, Lua Kelly; and sister, Ruth Dike; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 9 a.m. until the start of the service beginning at 10 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel. After her 10 a.m. service, the family will gather at Hiland Cemetery in Hiland, Wyoming (57 miles west of Casper – on Highway 20-26) for graveside services.
The family would like to thank Meadow Wind Assisted Living for their compassion, friendship, and making her journey pleasant. They would also like to thank Bill, Dona, and Tami Larsen and Eddie Lowndes for being there every step of the way.

Linda Gail Thomas: 1941 – 2025
Gail went to be with Jesus on May 19, 2025 in Casper, Wyoming.
She was born July 26, 1941, in Glencoe, Alabama, to Ina Bell Bowen Parker of Alexandria, Alabama and Stanford Shelby Parker of Mobile, Alabama. While in college at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama, she met the love of her life, John Evan Thomas, III of Birmingham, Alabama. They were married August 23, 1962 in Glencoe, Alabama and enjoyed 62 years together.
Gail grew up in Glencoe, Alabama and went to church regularly at First Baptist Church of Glencoe. She devoted her life to Christ at an early age and dedicated her life to serving Him. She graduated from Glencoe High School in 1959. She then earned her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics with a minor in Science from Jacksonville State University in 1963. Upon their graduation, she and John moved to New Orleans where she taught Home Economics at the junior high school level, while John attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Gail and John had fond memories of their time in New Orleans.
Over many years, she and John served congregations of Southern Baptist Churches in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. In 1984, they were called to serve Boyd Avenue Baptist Church in Casper, Wyoming as Minister of Music. John also served as the Music Education Director of the Wyoming Southern Baptist Convention. This job allowed him and Gail to travel and get familiar with the Southern Baptist churches across the state of Wyoming. At Boyd Avenue, Gail taught Sunday school, as well as, lead the preschool choir. John and Gail made many lasting friendships over the years. Even in her later years, Gail remained a faithful member and prayer warrior of the church.
John and Gail enjoyed the great outdoors and all that Wyoming had to offer. They shared fond memories of hiking on Casper Mountain, Muddy Mountain, and backpacking in the Bighorn Mountain Range. They enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, traveling, and having picnics with their family. They were often seen walking at Edness K. Wilkins State Park.
Gail loved the Lord and her desire was for all to know the joy of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the years, she served alongside John at numerous church events. She would cook Southern casseroles and dishes that were loved by all. For many years, they would open up their home to the church choir members for gatherings following their choir cantatas. It always featured her delicious Italian cream cake!
Surviving Gail is her husband, John; her brother, Larry Parker of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Jeff Thomas (Margaret); daughter, Susan Foery (Jason); and two grandchildren, Martin Thomas Foery and Shelby Rose Foery, all of Casper, Wyoming.
She was preceded by death by her parents and grandparents.
A visitation will take place at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home on Friday, May 23 from 4 to 5 p.m. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, June 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming, with a graveside service at Highland Cementery following the service. All are welcome.
