Barbara Ann Boam: 1944 – 2025

Barbara Ann Boam 81, of Hanna passed away April 26, 2025 at Shepherd of the Valley Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Casper.

She was born January 9, 1944 to Charlie and Retha Pippin in Ozark County Missouri.

She was married to Ronald Boam on April 4, 1980. They remained married until his passing in 1999.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Calvert (Seith Konrath); grandson, Conner Konrath; brother, Gale Pippin; sister, Nola Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ronald Boam; sisters: Viola Starkey, Ovadee Martin, Nadine Koroulis; brothers, Larry Pippin and Jerry Pippin; nephew, Edward Starkey; and niece, Melissa Koroulis.

Barbara was the first documented woman in the Hanna Basin to work in an underground coal mine, when she worked in Hanna, for the Energy Development Company.

Barbara will forever be remembered as an outspoken, say what was on her mind kind of woman, who loved gatherings with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on May 3, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Hanna, at 1 p.m. Graveside services and a luncheon to follow.


Jorge Isais: 1950 – 2025

Jorge Isais, age 75, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming, surrounded by family and love.

Born on February 23, 1950, in Zacatecas, Mexico, Jorge was a man full of life, known for his big heart, generous spirit, and unforgettable sense of humor. He never met a stranger, and he could light up a room with his jokes, laughter, and warm smile.

Jorge was a dedicated worker who spent many years with Silva Cement and later served the Natrona County School District, where he was respected by colleagues and students alike. He had a deep love for sports and especially enjoyed playing softball for Doc’s Jocs. A faithful fan, he proudly supported his Denver Broncos through every season, win or lose.

His greatest joy came from cheering on his grandchildren—he rarely missed a game, recital, or event, always on the sidelines, full of pride.

Jorge was preceded in death by his beloved wife, JoAn Isais; his mother, Apolonia Isais Martinez; his father, Juan Isais Roman; and his siblings: Luis Isais, Celia Fernandez, and Maria Elena Martinez.

He is survived by his loving sister, Alicia Isais of El Paso, Texas; his children: Moses (Sheila) Isais of Canton, South Dakota; Louie (Jamie) Isais of Grand Junction, Colorado; Josh (Trisha) Isais of Casper, Wyoming; Alice Isais (Jose) of Casper, Wyoming; Christina Adams (Ron) of Casper, Wyoming; and Jasmine Gould (Joshua) of Casper, Wyoming.

Jorge leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Gabriella Isais, Elijah Isais, Haven Isais, Caleb Isais, Naythan Isais, Izaak Isais, Michaela Reyes, Sierra Ihli, Josh Reyes, Thelonious Isais, Mánolo Isais, Ezrah Isais, Mateo Adams, and Carlo Adams. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.

Jorge’s life was a testament to love, laughter, devotion, and family. His spirit lives on in every story shared, every game cheered, and every heart he touched. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.


Michael L. Smith: 1942 – 2025

Michael Louis Smith passed away April 24, 2025. He was a man of true strength and virtue, who passed away peacefully at home at the age of 82. He was a true Wyomingite.

Michael was born October 26, 1942 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. His parents, Harry and Adele Smith, helped him learn what it meant to serve his people. His father fought in WWII and had to wait three years to meet his son. At the age of 10 years, Michael began helping his family run the Frontier Motel. He learned to care for the people who called this nation home, a sentiment he continued to dedicate his life to until his death. At the age of 13 years, Michael had his Bar Mitzvah, and in 1963, at the age of 20, Michael enlisted into the United States Air Force. He fought six years as a Flight Engineer, during the Vietnam War.

Michael left the military in 1967 to complete his education at the University of Wyoming, getting a Bachelors degree in Social Work. But the military never left his mind, as in 1970 he re-enlisted in Army National Guard. During his service, he used his degree to get his first job at the Welfare Office in Torrington, Wyoming. He later moved to Riverton he continued his job with Family Services, a job he took with pride as he helped many children and families for decades.

In 1978 he moved to the city that he would call home, Casper, Wyoming. He continued with Family Services as a supervisor. In 1979, Michael met his true love, Darleen Clingan, at the time she was struggling as a single mother of her two-year-old son, Brian. But Michael had known from the moment he saw her that she was the one. In 1980, the pair married, and later Michael adopted his now son Brian. Mike and Darleen had two more children, Rebecca and Heather. He gave his family everything he could.

In 1992, Michael was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard. He continued to serve the community of Casper. He was a man of great compassion and selflessness, always putting others first before himself. Whenever people came over Michael would always provide food to his guests. When his time came he used his last words to tell his wife he loved her. He moved on surrounded by the love he felt and spread through his family, life, and legacy. He knew what it meant to be a good person.

In 2000, Michael welcomed his first grandchild, then eight more followed, all the center of Michael’s heart. On December 31, 2004 Michael retired from the State of Wyoming Family Services, his influence on the community was so impactful that his retirement made the newspaper. He took a part time job in 2006 as a shuttle driver, a job that was his true calling to be able to visit with many people.He retired in 2018 with his wife Darleen spending time camping and traveling.

Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis; parents, Harry and Adele Smith; grandparents; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Mike is survived by his wife, Darleen; children: Brian(Nancy) Smith, Rebecca (Joshua) Johnson, and Heather (Tristan) McKinney; grandchildren: Sean Patrick, Christopher Howard, David Michael and Tristan Ryan Smith. Kailynn Adele and Declan James Johnson. Kalista Raye Gantt, Alison Frances, and Marcella Marie McKinney; his sister, Debra (Phillip) Klein; and brother, Robert; and many nephews and one niece; and his cousins: Mona, Evelyn and Stephanie.

Services with military honors will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. Ron Benda will officiate.


Jean Marie Stowe: 1933 – 2025

Jean Marie Bressler Stowe was born in Torrington, Wyoming on June 20, 1933 and passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025. She was the daughter of Harold and Marie Bressler of Casper and was the oldest sister of Robert Bressler and Donna Bressler Preston.

Jean graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper Wyoming in 1951. She became a certified teacher and taught all grades at a one-room schoolhouse on 33-Mile Road. She enjoyed over 70 years of marriage to Carlton Harry Stowe of Casper, Wyoming. With Carlton, she lived in various places including Wyoming, Hawaii and Colorado, before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1968. She was employed by Petroleum Information Service for many years as a reporter for energy industry drilling and production activities and served as a sales-person with JoAnn’s Fabrics for over 10 years. She was passionate about sewing and having the right machine for the project.

After retirement in 1995, Jean enjoyed many hobbies such as sewing, camping, gardening, bird watching (especially her favorite hummingbirds) and time with Carlton and the family dogs.

She is survived by her three sons: Robert C. Stowe (Trish), Kevin L. Stowe (Carol) and J. Garth Stowe (Becky); and daughter-in-law, Brenda K. Stowe. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Carlton and Jean first heard the gospel in 1957 and enjoyed opening their home for many years for the fellowship of God’s people.

A viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m. for a gathering of family and friends. Her graveside ceremony will be held at Redwood Memorial Mortuary in West Jordan, Utah, time and date are pending.

Linda Dawn Vangeli: 1945 – 2025

Linda Dawn Vangeli passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 30, 2025 at Banner Medical Center in Casper Wyoming.

Linda was born to Richard (Pete) and Georgia Vangeli on August 15, 1945.

She was born and raised on a little island fishing community on the coast of Maine. Though she lived many years away, Stonington, Maine is where her heart remained. She always had a story or two to tell about the place she loved best, MAINE.

She worked the majority of her adult life as a CNA. She worked at the Douglas Senior Center, Douglas, Wyoming, for 12 years prior to her retirement in 2023. She did what she did best, which was caring for others.

She was the most caring and selfless person you could ever know. She always put others before herself. She also had the strength of steel. She never complained about anything, even throughout all of her cancer treatments. She was a fighter.

Faith and family are what she lived for, and on April 30, 2025, heaven gained a beautiful angel. She will be dearly missed.

Linda is survived by her sister, Maria Bois, of Maine; three children: sons, Thomas St. Gelais, of Maine, and Glenn (Crystal) St. Gelais, of Wyoming, and daughter, Monique St. Gelais, of Wyoming. She is also survived by six grandsons; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren; as well as niece, Patricia Haldas (Bois); and nephew, Danny Bois.
