The Casper Area Metropolitan Planning Organization launched a new website Thursday, Jan. 31 to inform citizens of its efforts to update its 2014 Long Range Transportation Plan. The MPO is seeking public input via a survey on the new “Connecting Crossroads” site.
The MPO says it is working to update the Long Range Transportation Plan and expects to present its proposal in October 2019. In addition to the online survey, an MPO press release said community members can provide input and take part in the design process during a March 10-12 event to be held at Casper College.
The transportation plan survey asks about different modes of transportation in Casper inluding walking, biking, driving and the bus system. Survey respondents are asked about what they value when it comes to transportation and what kind of improvements people would like to see.
“We want to hear from you!” reads the introduction to the survey. “How do you get around Casper? What works and what doesn’t about the way you move today and the ways you want to move in the future? For each mode of transportation, tell us what makes it great and what would make it better.”
The results of the survey will be posted in February and inform the MPO’s design of the Long Range Transportation Plan, according to the new website.
MPO is calling its March event a “community charrette.” Workshops will be held at the event to address such topics as mapping out potential new Casper area trails and identifying areas where traffic safety may be an issue. The website says that a detailed agenda for this event will be posted in February.
The MPO will prepare a draft of its plan in July and expects to have the completed plan ready by October 1.
