Students of Theatre, Band, Orchestra and Choir at Natrona County High School are teaming up to bring “Sister Act: A Heavenly Musical” to the historic John F. Welsh Auditorium.
An adaptation of the 1992 Whoopi Goldberg film, the stage version features music by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Glenn Slater and book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner.
The story follows Deloris Van Cartier, an aspiring superstar who witnesses a murder by her two-timing boyfriend, Curtis. Deloris finds refuge posing as a nun, at a catholic church that has run on hard times. The mother superior at the church worries that Deloris’ sinful past will corrupt her nuns. When Deloris takes over the nun’s choir and adds R&B to their hymns, Mother Superior’s faith is tested. As police detective seek to keep Deloris safe, Deloris seeks to save the church from financial ruin.
The show runs April 26-27 & May 4-5 at 7 pm; and April 28 and May 5 at 2 pm in the John F. Welsh Auditorium, at Natrona County High School.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any cast member, from the NCHS main office, or at the door beginning April 3.
