The driver of a vehicle involved in a rollover crash near Kemmerer was not wearing a safety belt at the time, according to a WYDOT crash summary.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, that occurred during the late morning hours of January 8th, 2018. Troopers saying that the incident happened near milepost 42, on Wyoming Highway 387.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Wyoming resident Dan Ramsey.

The vehicle was traveling north on 372 and negotiating a long, sweeping left curve with a slight uphill grade. As the vehicle was almost through the curve, it drifted off of the right side of the roadway and struck a delineator post. The driver overcorrected the steering to the left causing the vehicle to enter a counter-clockwise spin as it crossed back over both lanes of travel.

The vehicle exited the left side of the roadway, traveled down a slight embankment, and rolled approximately 2 to 3 times.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected out the sunroof.

Speed and a lack of seat belt use are being investigated as contributing factors.

Ramsey was listed as the first highway fatality on Wyoming roads in 2018.
