A Casper man is facing five felony charges, two of the charges include 1st Degree Sexual Assault.
The suspect made his initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court before Judge Brian Christensen, Thursday, May 31st, 2018; where he heard all five charges against him.
All told, the suspect faces two charges of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, two charges of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 2nd Degree, and one charge of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 3rd Degree.
The suspect was identified in court as a 28-year-old, single male. He further stated to the court that he was unemployed at this time, and was living with family, and had no children.
The date for the alleged charges was read as dating back to 2015.
During the proceedings, Assistant District Attorney Mike Schafer described the nature of the charges as very serious, and said that other charges against the suspect were possible, including Aggravated Child Abuse.
A small audible disturbance in the court was heard, when Judge Christensen verbally read the bond amount at $1,000 cash-only. However after a brief conference between Assistant D.A. Trevor Schenk and Schafer, the Judge was asked to clarify. At that point Judge Christensen corrected himself, and said that he had meant to read an amount of $100,000 cash-only.
The suspect is tentatively scheduled for a preliminary hearing, to see if the case will be bound over to District Court.
Further details are expected to be released, following that preliminary hearing.
