Police arrested a Casper man after being called to a “possible family fight,” according to a Casper Police affidavit.
Police allege that when the victim was awoken by a knock at the door, Leomir Valera-Ortiz “grabbed her with his hand across the face and stated ‘shut up and don’t say anything else’,” according to the report.
The victim told Valera-Ortiz to let her go but he continued to hold her down on the bed by the face. The victim said her nose was bloodied by Valera-Ortiz and that he “had raised his hand in a fist as if he was going to punch her, stating ‘I said shut up'”.
Officers noted scratch marks on the victim’s face and dried blood on her lower lip.
Valera-Ortiz denied the charges and was put under arrest. Officers then found a blister pack containing 16 pills of Alprazolam in Valera-Ortiz’s wallet. Alprazolam is usually sold under the brand Xanax, a prescription anti-anxiety drug that is often abused and is very addictive. Valera-Ortiz said he’s getting the pills from a person in Cuba.
Valera-Ortiz is being charged for domestic battery and possession of a controlled substance (Alprazolam).
