A K9 search contributed to the arrest of a Casper woman on methamphetamine charges.
According to Casper Police Department paperwork, officers contacted 27-year-old Kayelee Dawn Thomas, just before 6:00 pm on April 17th, 2017. Officers say that they observed Thomas driving in a Chevy Tahoe, near the intersection of Cody and Bellaire in Casper. Officers noted that Kaylee did not signal prior to making a turn with the vehicle, and also that the front windshield was damaged, and believed to be unsafe by officers.
During the stop it was discovered that Thomas had several active warrants for her arrest, and she was taken into custody. In the meantime, a police K9 unit responded to the scene and did a “sniff” on the vehicle.
A search of the Tahoe by police yielded two jeweler baggies a substance that police say tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
The weight was estimated in arrest paperwork as .52 grams, including the baggies.
Thomas was booked into jail on charges of Fail to Comply, Fail to Appear, and Controlled Substance Possession- Methamphetamine.
All suspects that are arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Natrona County District Attorney’s Office.
