CASPER, Wyo. — Wyoming is no stranger to strong winds, and there are likely to be plenty in the approaching weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Riverton.

Skies on Saturday will be mostly sunny, and the NWS in Riverton predicts a high temperature near 51 degrees. Throughout the day, winds from the northeast are expected to reach speeds of 17–25 mph, with gusts as strong as 34 mph possible.

The night is likely to bring increasing cloud coverage, the NWS in Riverton reports. Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to drop to a low of around 40 degrees. After sundown, wind gusts could reach speeds as high as 50 mph.

Sunday should begin mostly cloudy before gradually becoming sunny as the afternoon unfolds. The NWS in Riverton’s forecast features a high near 51 degrees. Southwest winds of 21–25 mph and gusts as strong as 38 mph are expected.

At night, temperatures are expected to drop to a low of 23 degrees. The NWS in Riverton reports a slight 20% chance of snow showers before 11 p.m. The forecast also includes wind gusts of nearly 30 mph.
