CASPER, Wyo. — The National Weather Service in Riverton is warning Natrona County residents that conditions are ideal for wildfires, and has placed the county under a fire weather watch as a precaution.
The fire weather watch officially goes into effect at 2 p.m. and remains active until 8 p.m. Low humidity, coupled with strong winds, could cause erratic fire behavior. The NWS in Riverton also declared the watch for Fremont County.
Today will be sunny and warm, with a high temperature near 82 degrees. The NWS in Riverton predicts light west-northwest winds that should increase in speed to up to 13 mph in the afternoon, with gusts as strong as 22 mph possible.
At night, the NWS in Riverton forecasts a 30% chance of scattered rainfall beginning just past 9 p.m. Meanwhile, temperatures could fall to a low of about 51 degrees.
On Sunday, the NWS in Riverton predicts a slight 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms possible after 9 a.m. It should still be a mostly sunny day, with a high near 73 degrees.
At night, skies should clear as temps fall to a low of around 47 degrees.
