CASPER, Wyo. — Improvements are being proposed for Muddy Mountain Road and some parking areas within the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area south of Casper, the Bureau of Land Management Casper Field Office said in a press release Monday.

“The BLM was recently awarded funding to improve access to the 1,260-acre recreation area through the Federal Lands Transportation Program,” the release said.

The proposed project would include efforts to rehabilitate and resurface about 7.4 miles of road. There would also be improvements to parking areas at the main entrance to the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area, Rim Campground and the north and south entrances to the natural area, the BLM Casper Field Office said.

The project would be conducted by the BLM in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration.

People can provide comment on the proposed project until Monday, Oct. 10, which will mark the end of a 14-day public comment period. The BLM and FHWA are asking people to help identify issues or other information that may be useful in analyzing the proposed project.

“Written comments may be submitted electronically by email at blm_wy_casper_wymail@blm.gov or by mail to the Bureau of Land Management Casper Field Office, Attn: Cullen Hardy, 2987 Prospector Dr., Casper, WY 82604,” the release said. “For more information, please contact BLM recreation specialist Cullen Hardy at (307) 261-7614 or chardy@blm.gov.”
