CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming Symphony Orchestra recently concluded its February Music on the Move programming after bringing New York chamber band W4RP Trio to Casper.

The goal of Music on the Move is to take the symphony out of the concert hall and into the depths of the community, and W4RP Trio did just that, spending three days traveling through Natrona County School District elementary schools and performing a community concert at Frontier Brewing Company on Feb. 4.

W4RP Trio, comprising four musicians, is an internationally touring, cross-genre chamber music experience that exemplifies the genre-defying direction of contemporary classical music.

The band traveled cross-country for Wyoming Symphony Orchestra’s Music on the Move, an umbrella program covering three branches of community engagement:

  • WSO in the community: Music Director Christopher Dragon, Concertmaster Megan Karls and various WSO musicians visit high schools to both perform and teach and host masterclasses in their respective expertise.
  • Children’s Program: The WSO brings featured guests, such as W4RP Trio, to play music for elementary schools in Casper. The guest musicians perform, talk with the children about their craft and then play a community concert.
  • Music for Health: A rapidly evolving program, Music for Health takes the symphony to retirement homes, hospital rooms and senior living spaces to share the healing power of music.

Before putting on a community concert at Frontier Brewing, W4RP Trio toured schools in Casper to engage, enlighten and inspire students of all ages

The Wyoming Symphony Orchestra is grateful for both W4RP Trio’s performances and the community’s attendance. Music on the Move is made possible thanks to donations made by symphony supporters. People can donate to the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra’s Annual Fund here
