CASPER, Wyo. — A total of 2,961 applications for Wyoming’s COVID-19 Relief Fund and Mitigation Fund have been submitted as of Monday, Aug. 31, according to the Wyoming Business Council. The funding is available through federal CARES Act dollars allocated to Wyoming

The Relief Fund offers a total of $50 million in grant funding to businesses and nonprofits that were required to close during the pandemic and a total of $135 million for businesses and non-profits not required to close.

The Wyoming Business Council, who are administering the programs, add that $46.4 million in Relief Fund support have been requested by businesses required to close. $134 million has been requested by non-profits not required to close.

$40 million are available to help cover direct costs related to the pandemic, such as personal protective equipment costs, under the Mitigation Fund. Businesses and non-profits have requested $27.6 million.

As of Monday, the Wyoming Business Council says that a total of $120.4 million in relief fund requests have been approved. $61 million have already been paid out to 734 applicants.

Under the Mitigation Fund, $15.5 million in requests have been approved with $9.9 million already paid out to 258 applicants.

Businesses and nonprofits can still apply for both funds, though funding is running out.

“Relief Fund requests are quickly exhausting available funding,” the WBC says. “Applicants are not guaranteed funding at this point and may be placed on waitlists.”
