UPDATE: The Pooch Pool Party is full. The City of Casper said on Tuesday afternoon it will have a waitlist for the party and will then be closing registrations.

CASPER, Wyo. — The City of Casper will host a “Pooch Pool Party” at Washington Park Pool from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14.

“The dog days of summer are upon us, and it’s your pup’s turn for a pool day,” Aquatics Supervisor Edwin Luers said.

The last day of swimming for people will happen on Saturday, Aug. 13, as only dogs will be allowed into the pool during the “Pooch Pool Party.”

Metro Animal Control will attend the Pooch Pool Party to offer information on spaying and neutering, pet licensing, adoption and other topics. Unleashed Dog Bakery will sell dog treats. Other vendors interested in participating can contact Rachel Bouzis with the City of Casper at rbouzis@casperwy.gov or 307-235-8296.

A maximum of 30 dogs will be allowed at the Pooch Pool Party. Pet owners must RSVP online in advance to register their dogs to attend. The city is recommending dog life jackets if pets have never swam before. Dogs must be on a leash while on the pool deck, and owners will be required to show proof of current vaccinations and license.

Any dogs that show aggression during the party will be asked to leave.

The admission fee is $5 per dog. While there is no fee for humans to attend, a pet owner must accompany their dogs. People will not be allowed into the pool.

Waste bags will be provided by the City of Casper’s “Scoop the Poop” initiative. Tennis balls that were lost by players at the Washington Park tennis courts this summer will also be given out.
