Before there was Starbucks, there was Metro Coffee Company…at least in Casper.

The downtown coffee shop and gathering spot has recently changed hands for the third time in its 15-year history. Siblings Lexie Anderson, Kristinda Wilcox, and Zach Taylor, partnered with friend Sean Peverley and bought the business late last month.

“It started out as a joke,” said Peverley, who works at his day job with one of Metro’s former owners Nelson Giese. “I was talking about starting a business and I somehow joked about owning Metro,” said Peverley. In another conversation, he was asked if he was serious. “I jokingly said ‘Yeah I’m serious,’ and the next thing you know it was serious.”

“A coffee shop is something I’ve always wanted to do,” continues Peverley. “I couldn’t have dreamed in a million years it would be Metro. I love Metro.”

“We are definitely leaving Metro coffee the way it is,” said Peverley. Some changes will happen in the front of the shop, where apparel made by another one of Peverley’s companies will be sold along with gift items. “We’re trying to create an experience,” explains Peverley. “It’s a one-stop-shop where you can get coffee and grab a gift or a snack,” said Anderson.

The back area with its shabby chic vibe of vintage furniture will remain the same. “We like it,” said Anderson. “This kind of eclectic environment, this is what makes it Metro.”

“We’re going to bring back music,” said Anderson, who is also looking to expand the roster of artists featured on the exposed brick walks inside the shop.

“It truly still is a dream,” said Peverley.
