CASPER, Wyo. — Art on the Go Gallery is hosting its grand opening Thursday, June 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. This exciting new gallery and gift shop is located in the Clarion Inn, which is in the process of being converted to a Best Western Hotel.
Art on the Go was established in 2021 as a venue for the growing artist community around Casper, Wyoming, with a goal to grow and nurture artists of all types. Its goal is to spread the joy of art and it now has an official home in which it can do so. Art on the Go is proud to host almost 30 different local Wyoming artists.
“We were looking for a place for a little gallery and shop … and the hotel has been very receptive,” said Sheri McCoid, an Art on the Go spokesperson. The hotel is allowing the gallery to use their convention center hallway and gift shop to display some art, exposing more people to the art in from Casperites.
McCoid said that the hotel was a great fit for their vision to display painters, potters, jewelers, woodworkers and more. All the art is made by local artists and your art can even be put on display and sold here.
Individuals can become a member of Art on the Go. It costs $50 a year to be a member and benefits include gallery shows, community shows, planned community events, discounted commission fees on sales and workshops, and use of their website to sell and display artwork.
Come out to meet local artists and enjoy some refreshments at the grand opening. Art on the Go is located at 123 West E St., just south of I-25 at the Center Street exit.
It secured the lease March 1 and has spent the last several months remodeling and setting up the location. After opening only a couple weeks ago, the venue is now ready for its grand opening that all the public is welcome to attend.
As the summer season takes off and the Casper Art Walk starts this Thursday, June 2, Art on the Go decided that would be the best time to open for the exposure and the hype that comes along with it. Its location is an official stop on the Casper Art Walk Map.
Art on the Go also hosts the event Art in the Park, which will take place Aug. 27, 2022, as well as another event it is planning for September.
It also has routing displays at the Tate Pump House as well as Oil City Beer Co.
McCoid said that they are hopeful that in the winter months they might be able to continue the Art Walk ideals at their location.
