A screen shot from the Colorado Department of Transportation website shows traffic heading north less than a mile from the Wyoming border on Friday morning.

Some people might have seen photos bumper-to-bumper traffic moving at a snail’s pace on I-25 at the Wyoming and Colorado border posted on social media this morning.

Don’t call your relatives or friends in Colorado in a panic just yet. According to Wyoming Department of Transportation spokesperson Jeff Goetz, it’s bogus.

According to Goetz, the photo was either taken some time ago or may be of parked cars. As of this morning, traffic is quite normal. Goetz does expect traffic to increase later this afternoon, however.

A Denver Post story published yesterday does paint a terrifying picture of post-eclipse traffic heading back home from Wyoming on Monday, however. The article says drivers should expect “traffic as bad as 6 Broncos games letting out at once.”

Meanwhile, eclipse organizers in Casper are urging residents to whenever possible keep their cars parked at home during the weekend and especially on eclipse Monday.

A good way to check up on northbound Colorado traffic is through the Colorado Department of Transportation’s interactive map, which features dozens of live traffic cameras leading right up to the Wyoming border.
